DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A North Texas man has gone to see his mother in a New England jail where she is facing murder charges in the death of his little brother.
Ian McCrery has not seen his mother Julianne McCrery since she was arrested last month. The body of his six-year-old brother Camden Hughes was found in a wooded area near the New Hampshire-Maine border.
Ian is a cook in the U.S. Navy and as luck would have it, his ship docked in Maine. He put out a call on Facebook looking for someone to give him a lift to the New Hampshire jail where his mother is being held. He spoke to reporters with NECN after visiting with his mom for over an hour. He says, “It was good, I needed it.”
McCrery says they talked about happier times, and about Camden, “Just all good things though,” he says. “There would be no point in saying anything ba.”
Police say McCrery has admitted to killing her little boy. Ian says he tried to find out what led up to that, “I asked her ‘why’ and she broke down and she said ‘please don’t ask me’.”
According to the administrators at Camden’s elementary schooo in Irving, McCrery told them that her son was sick for several weeks in early May. During that time, investigators beleive she took the 6-year-old to New England. Her updates to the school continued after officials say the boy was dead and stopped only after his body was discovered.
