DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The Dallas Zoo is honoring members of the armed forces this Fourth of July weekend.
As part of “Celebrate Freedom Weekend” there will be free admission for service members.
“Saturday, Sunday and Monday, all current, active and retired veterans and military personnel will receive free admission to the Dallas Zoo, along with free admission for up to three of their family members,” explained Karen Hamilton with the Dallas Zoo.
Hamilton says service members just need to show a military ID to get in and enjoy the festivities. “There will be all sorts of activity booths and local, community vendors here, many of which are directly of interest for military and veterans,” she said.
Everything kicks of Saturday morning with a special “Welcome Home Veterans” event.
Hamilton detailed the schedule. “There will be a ceremony at 11 on Saturday. We will have proclamations. The Korean War Veteran’s will post the flag. We will have the stating of the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of the National Anthem.”
The Dallas Zoo is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
