DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The heat wave is pushing more people to local Farmers Markets to get their produce.
A lot of homeowners have small backyard gardens around here, but with the heat and drought currently impacting North Texas, a lot of fruits and vegitables are not producing. J.T. Lemley with Lemley’s Plants and Produce in East Texas says that’s increased his buisiness at the Dallas Farmers Market.
“Every day I’m there I’m asked a thousand questions on what can I do. All I can say is we’ve got to pray for a little break in the heat and a little bit of rain,” Lemley said.

Even with complex irrigation, Lemley says he is having trouble keeping squash, eggplant and cucumbers. Tomatoes have been a big problem for a lot of growers. Lemley says in the coming weeks, they will be tough to find.
