ARLINGTON (AP) Rangers outfielder Craig Gentry has been put on major league baseball’s new seven-day concussion disabled list.
The move was made before Thursday’s game against Minnesota, four days after Gentry got hurt. Because that move can’t be retroactive, the earliest he can return is Aug. 4.
Texas recalled catcher Taylor Teagarden from Triple-A Round Rock.
Gentry was the only Texas runner to get to second base Sunday night in a 3-0 loss to Toronto. He got hurt on that play.
His helmet came off as he slid headfirst and his neck twisted when he made contact with second baseman Aaron Hill’s leg. Gentry was stunned briefly, but stayed in after being checked by a trainer.
Gentry says he’s had at least other three other concussions playing baseball.
