Foodies have been waiting for this event all year long!! The super popular KRLD Restaurant Week is coming up this Monday August 15-21 with many restaurants agreeing to extend through Aug. 28 or even September 4. There are more than 125 participants from Collin, Dallas, Denton, Parker and Tarrant counties this year.
The annual dining fundraiser showcases our area’s vibrant culinary scene, and is the ideal time to dine out and treat yourself while helping others. For every $35 prix fixe meal purchased during this time-frame, participating restaurants will make a $7 donation to help support either the North Texas Food Bank in Dallas or the Lena Pope Home in Fort Worth.
Genghis Khan: The Exhibition continues at The Irving Arts Center. The award winning exhibit captures the essence of Genghis Khan’s empire, his military prowess, cultural influence, mysterious burial and lasting legacy on modern-day culture. The exhibition, the largest collection of 13th century Mongolian artifacts ever gathered in a single showing, includes gold jewelry, weaponry, tomb treasures, silk robes, religious relics, and porcelain vases.
Video screens, handicraft and weaponry activity stations, a life-size ger [traditional Mongolian home] and role-playing kiosks create a highly interactive, educational and historical experience that is fun for the whole family. Exhibit hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. through September 30th.
Calling all fans of The King!! On Sunday, August 14th, Dick’s Last Resort is hosting “The World’s Largest Elvis Flash Mob.” This is your chance to be part of the flash mob craze as seen on TV and YouTube. Participants will meet at a top secret location and do an impromptu choreographed dance routine to “Jail House Rock.”

Hairspray The Musical returns to North Texas as it comes to the Casa Manana stage in Fort Worth this week. The Tony award winning show delights all ages as it takes a cool trip back in time when sweater sets ruled and rock and roll was just beginning to take over the youth! It continues through Sunday, with good seats still available.
And lastly, garden lovers will be thrilled to hear the 21st Annual Fall Fort Worth Home & Garden Show returns this weekend on Saturday from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. The popular annual event features gardens and landscaping displays, kitchens baths, new products as well as many how to seminars and on stage demonstrations. Tickets for adults are $9.50, senior citizens (65+) are $8.00 all weekend and children 14 and under are free. All the fun takes place at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
