AUSTIN (AP)  The Texas Longhorns will soon find out if all those changes behind the scenes will make a difference on the field.

The Longhorns start the 2011 season at home against Rice on Saturday night. Texas is in search of a big turnaround after a 5-7 finish last season just one year after playing for the national championship.

Texas missed a bowl game and coach Mack Brown overhauled his coaching staff in the offseason. He will also have 12 freshmen and sophomore starters against the Owls, though Garrett Gilbert returns at quarterback.

Rice will have talented quarterback Taylor McHargue and veteran running back Sam McGuffie leading the upset bid.

You can listen to the game Saturday at 5:30pm on 1080 KRLD
