Pedestrian Killed Crossing Interstate-20 In Arlington

By Matt Goodman, CBSDFW.COM

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – A pedestrian was killed trying to run across Interstate 20 near Matlock Road early Sunday morning, Arlington Police Department spokeswoman Tiara Richard said.

Richard said the man, who has not been identified, darted across the freeway just as a driver entered the on eastbound ramp at Matlock Road.

The driver told police that she couldn’t avoid the man and hit him with her car. A second driver also hit the man, Richard said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:30 a.m.

Richard said neither of the drivers looked to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This is the 22nd traffic death in the city this year.

What about the guy sprinting across I-20, sounds like he might have been under the influence of something.

There’s a hotel closeby as well as USMD hospital I wonder if he was trying to get to the 7-11 because that’s the only thing that would be open that time of night.

  3. JAMA$ says:

Doesn’t the Matlock bridge cross I-20?
Why not take that instead of risking one’s life?

  6. darrell says:

if he was too stupid to use the matlock bridge he didnt deserve to live anyway. the area he was crossing at is where fry’s electronics is with a gas station on the corner. hiding from something maybe, didnt want to be seen.

  7. chris says:

What a moron. You needed to cross 20 that bad? What a lazy person. The world is better off without him. Too bad there are no pics to post of the aftermath. I bet he was some pretty impressing road kill.

    Such crude, heartless comments !
It is flatly wrong to post condescending remarks about someone of whom you do not know. He is someone’s son; someone’s friend; perhaps a husband or father. He has family somewhere who consider him better than non-human (per remarks above).
Please consider your humanity before such posts.
You, too, may wind up as the subject of an article about making a poor judgement call. What remarks will others say about you?
    Be a little kinder, folks.
