Sandie’s Arts Blog: 9/11 Memorials

There are many area 9-11 memorial events throughout the Dallas Fort Worth area this weekend. Two free events are at The Red Cross and SMU in Dallas. Never Forget: 9/11 10th Anniversary Commemoration will be heldSunday at 2:00p at American Red Cross Dallas Area Chapter.  There is no cost to the public. Say thanks to firefighters, police officers and members of the military for all they do to keep us safe, and hear how the Red Cross North Texas ran the nationwide 9/11 call center. Civic leaders including Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Pauline Medrano will be on hand and complimentary refreshments will be served.

SMU will host a 9/11 Service of Remembering Sunday, from 7:30p to 8:30p at SMU Dallas Hall.  It is also a free event. It will be a Service of Remembering, presided over by SMU President R. Gerald Turner and Chaplain Stephen Rankin, with Student Event Chair Christina Rancke, whose father perished in one of the World Trade Center towers on 9/11.

In entetatinment,  Lil’ Wayne will be at the Gexa Energy Pavilion this Saturday at 7p.
Due to popular demand, the iconic rapper and label owner Lil’ Wayne will extend his 2011 North American “I Am Still Music” tour. Rick Ross, Keri Hilson, Far East Moment and Lloyd join Weezy..

Looking for a fun night out that will take you back to the 80’s? The Contemporary Theatre of Dallas brings the comedy Cheaters to their Dallas thaeter Thursday thru Sundays continuing until October 2.  It’s romance, comedy, drama and so much more!

    So here we are 10 years later and still there are 28 pages of the 9/11 report which haven’t been released! This video sheds a lot of light on what those 28 pages might have in them.. Let us grow out of the silly idea that a bunch of cave dwelling Afghanis were able to pull something like that off! Americans deserve closure and we must fight for it!
