DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Vice President of the United States Joe Biden was in Dallas Thursday, raising at least $250,000 for President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign and for the Democratic Party.

After arriving at Dallas Love Field, Biden spoke at a house owned by attorney Pete Krause, nearby to where former President George W. Bush currently lives.

In the air and on the ground, Dallas Police tightened the already increased security around the Preston Hollow neighborhood near Northwest Highway and Inwood.

Among those who attended Thursday’s event, former Dallas Mayor Laura Miller and her husband, former State Representative Steve Wolens.

Deborah Stein volunteered at the luncheon. “This was a great event. Joe Biden is a wonderful vice president and a great spokesman for President Obama, very engaging.”

The Obama campaign wouldn’t comment, but CBS 11 learned tickets to the fundraiser started at $10,000, and that 25 people were expected to attend.

Dallas County Republican Party Chairman Wade Emmert wasn’t impressed.  “This isn’t a campaign stop. He’s here touting the same policies that got us into this mess to begin with. The jobs bill is not a solution.”

Stein says Biden didn’t take the opportunity to criticize Governor Rick Perry, the GOP’s front-running presidential candidate.  Instead, she says Biden focused on the president’s agenda and doing what they thought was right for the country.  “More than being popular, wanting to help the people here and focusd on the jobs bill right now.”

In the neighborhood, some residents wondered what all the fuss was about.  They include well-known and highly regarded chef Dean Fearing — who says he’s hosted former President George W. Bush and former Vice President Dick Cheney at his restaurant at the Ritz Carlton in Dallas.  “I think it’s great. i’m just suprised i’m not cooking.”

Sometimes, at least one reporter is present at these kinds of events, but not Thursday.  The Vice President spent about an hour and a half at the home this afternoon.  He then left Love Field to return to Washington.

It cost the tax payers more to have this maroon Joey in Dallas, and Obama continues to burden the tax payers for his continued galavants across the nation.
