FORT WORTH (AP) – The city of Fort Worth, which had closed all of its pools, plans to reopen one next summer.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that officials on Tuesday unveiled a plan to reopen Marine Park pool.
Under the plan, the pool though would be demolished at the end of next summer to make room for a $3.5 million aquatics center with a multiuse pool and a water slide.
Assistant City Manager Susan Alanis says they still must find the funds for the plan. For the new pool to be completed by 2013, construction must start in August.
The Forest Park pool, the last municipal pool in operation, closed last year after its liner detached. Marine Park and the other five pools have been closed since 2009 because of budget cuts.
