ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – Arlington police say it looks like a tragic accident.
Paramedics had to airlift a three-year-old boy to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth after he fell from a third floor window, and received what could be life-threatening injuries.
It happened at the Claremont Apartments along East Sanford near Cowboys Stadium.
Residents at the senior living complex were shaken. “I have three kids of my own. My heart goes out to the boy,” says resident Rodney Capman.
Police are trying to figure out what was happening right before the boy fell.
Investigators measured the distance from the window to the ground, and the size of the window.
Police say the boys’ mother was in the apartment at the time, and that there are no signs of foul play.
“Even as an accident, anytime you have a child that is this severely injured, you will want to look into it to determine what happened, and hopefully provide some sort of information to prevent it from happening again,” says Tiara Ellis Richard with the Arlington Police Department.
A Cook Children’s Medical Center spokeswoman says the boy’s parents are understandably overcome with emotion, and have requested that no information is released about their son’s condition.
