DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - Everyone remembers their first trip to the fair.
There’s nothing like that experience–as a group of University of Texas at Dallas exchange students found out today.
60 international students from UTD got their very first taste, literally, of a Texas tradition.
“Every year on opening day we take a group of international students to the fair,” said Andrea Diaz, UTD International Student Service Office.
Some of the students have only been in the US for a few weeks. Most of them are from China, India and Vietnam.
“It looks pretty exciting, at least from the entrance,” said student Saurabh Chaudhary. “I need to check what’s there in the inside. I’ve never seen a state fair.”
It didn’t take long for these students to prove they could handle the largest state fair in America.
They strolled the fairgrounds with all the excitement of a child while holding their own amid the crowds.
None of them had ever tasted a corn dog, much less a Fletcher’s Original, but they were smiling after each bite of the fair favorite.
Most of the students will return to their home countries in a few months with an education and an experience they say they will never forget.
