DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A former Dallas County employee has been arrested and accused of stealing more than $100,000.
Floretta Hampton, 41, was taken into custody after a warrant was issued for a theft that occurred while she worked for the county.
According to Deputy Raul Reyna, the theft occurred months ago. “The warrant was issued as a result of an investigation by the sheriff’s office into the theft of over $130,000 from the Dallas County District Clerk’s Office, that occurred back on April 1, 2011.”
Reyna said Hampton resigned in August, after learning of an investigation was underway.
Investigators believe Hampton and 41-year-old Dax Raymone Williams took the money from a vault in the clerk’s office.
As of Tuesday afternoon Sheriff’s Department detectives were still questioning Hampton.
Williams has been charged with Theft and is currently in the Dallas County Jail.
