WEATHERFORD (CBSDFW.COM) – The heiress to a billion dollar fortune was arrested in Parker County on a DWI charge.

According to the Weatherford Democrat, Wal-Mart heiress Alice Walton was pulled over last Friday night by a highway patrol trooper on Interstate-20 in Weatherford.

The newspaper reports that Walton was given a field sobriety test at the scene and was determined to be intoxicated.

The billionaire, who lives in Milsap, about 18 miles west of Weatherford, was arrested on her 62nd birthday.

The arrest wasn’t made until after 11 p.m. on October 7 and Walton was released early the next morning on $1,000 bond.

Alice Walton is the daughter of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton and according to Forbes Magazine has an estimated net worth of more than $23 billion.

Alice, I hope you or your representatives are reading this. As a recovering boozehound myself, allow me to say, please get help. You’ve dealt with this long enough. My dad is good friends with you, by the way, and I’m sure he would want me to send his regards. Get help.

“The heiress to a billion dollar fortune was arrested in Parker County on a DWI charge.”

Who wrote this? She inherited way more than a billion dollars when Sam Walton passed away. Sloppy writing.

Billion Dollar Booze cannot stop the deamons in her head. AA is you way ma’am… it works if you work it.

Please tell me what is newsworthy in this article. Where is the news article entitled “Joe Schmoe arrested in Parker County.”

However, kudos to the -so far-lack of postings assailing the rich, the inherited wealth, the 1% ers, blah, blah, blah.

  • NiteNurse

I am constantly amazed when someone that wealthy who can easily afford a personal driver or just a cab gets a DUI.

    • KellieH

My thoughts exactly!!! HIRE SOMEONE TO DRIVE YOU AROUND!! Jeez, she could have killed someone.. get help too…

  • Tab Wells

I was a police officer in Fayetteville, AR when Alice was arrested and convicted of DWI in neighboring Springdale in 1998. After a two-day trial, she was convicted, despite her arrest being within ten miles or so of the Bentonville WalMart World HQ. Now let’s see if Parker County will follow through as well.

    • C Bauer

See? Like I said, she’s had an ongoing problem with this. Get help, Alice!

BTW – Go Fayetteville High Bulldogs!

  • david

she don’t hire a driver, thinks she can do what she wants, why do rich and privileged people always think the laws don’t apply to them.

    • 2sister

If she is an alcoholic like some people are suggesting, her economic status might have little to do with it. People who have substance abuse problems are often in denial that they have a problem and they come from all walks of life. Don’t get me I don’t approve of what she is accused of doing. I’m just pointing out that people who do this sort of thing don’t come from just one economic background. It’s sad.

  • YRofTexas

I’ll never be charged with DWI.
    I can’t afford the booze.
    Barely can afford the gas.

Lady, get help, get a driver, get God.
    Good Grief!

  • Jeff

Forget about her arrest. Why would anyone with that kind of money choose to live in Milsap?

    • C Bauer

Because she has a big-ass ranch there and breeds world-class horses.

  • Paula Hook

Old Sam Walton must be turning in his grave again as he was so against drinking as i was told at our Sam’s Club meetings…..Doesn’t surprise me she’s getting drunk on peoples money who are less fortunate….

    • C Bauer

Sam was a great man, and he had some high standards. He was a teetotaler for sure. He also didn’t approve of co-workers dating. I missed seeing him drive around Bentonville in that old red pickup when he passed away. He was a very humble man and a class act.

  • roneida

That shows one of the few advantages of living in NY City. Thousands of cabs everywhere.

  • Stetsonpete

No she shouldn’t be Drinking/Driving but most of u “not all” ready to” through away the key”, have are should had several DWIs , u just didn’t get caught !
I know several well known people in Weatherford that should have had many DWI’s but they were lucky enough “sad to say” to not be at the Right Place / Right/Time ! , and they are the first to “condemn” !
“Listen very carefully” the perception is Most DRINKERS really believe if u never been “caught” that u didn’t deserve a DWI, and of course that is so far from the truth ! P.S. yes i was a drinker ! , Alice take the Limo , or the Jet !

  • Robert

$23bil worth n still looks like white trash!

  • Robert

But she does look better than that rich Duchess from Spain! OMG that was one ugly thang!

  • Not your business

IF she gets convicted she will pay a fine and do no time. Money TALKS and BS WALKS!!!

  • Jack Stern

Billions do not buy you brains. The $1,000 fine and a sleepover in the clink means nothing to her. Lucky she didn’t run into a tree or another car or pedestrian. That would have been her big lose. I’m on my way to have a few drinks tonight and will take the bus and train even though I drive.

  • Kathy

This is why they keep taking away from their “ASSOCIATES” to help the Walton family some more!! Her parents are probably turning in their graves watching what is happening to their FORTUNE 500 company treating their associates the way they have been doing the last 5-10 years!!!

  • theresa dauphinais

maybe its guilt as to how they treat their employees, not enough alcohol to drown that away, cutting hrs, low wages, horrible management.
