14-Year-Old Killed By Hit And Run Driver In Northeast Dallas

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a 14-year-old boy who was darting across the 7600 block of Skillman Street early Saturday morning.

Dallas Police spokesman Sr. Cpl. Gerardo Monreal said Andrew Green was running across the thoroughfare trying to catch up his friends who were on the east side of the road at 2 a.m. Saturday.

An unknown vehicle hit Green, who suffered blunt force trauma to the head. The driver sped away without stopping. The Medical Examiner declared Green dead at the scene at 2:10 a.m.

Police are interviewing the boy’s friends to find more information about the make and model of the car that killed him.

you know, im am really sorry the young man died. its sad when any child dies for any reason at all. everyone seems to think that only the driver of the vehicle has any blame in this incident. yes the driver is responsible for most of the blame. hopefully they will catch that driver and we will learn more details there. yet to say all the blame goes on the driver is wrong. the driver is guilty of many things but the driver didnt put the child on the street at 2 am nor did the driver put the child in the street in the street where he was hit.

Yea u never the parents situation people are always so quick to blame the parent his mother works at night to support him, u should keep ur mouth shut…Talk stupid to the city they are so busy trying to take photos of people who run red lights, but dont have cameras for times like this…In July I witnessed a man get ran over luckily I went behind the car and got the license plate, last month a women was ran over and the car kept going and also a 7 year old lil girl who fighting or her life a truck jumped the curb while her and her mom was walking and kept going…people dont have a heart anymore….I dont see how they can sleep at night, but the man above is watching, the day of reckoning is coming.

My parents worked at night, but always found a way to ensure I had a ride home, was safe, and followed through with where I said I would be. Your argument makes no sense. They need cameras for kids running around, breaking curfew, jaywalking at 2 a.m.? The driver was wrong — VERY wrong, hands down… but this would never have happened if the kids had been more repsonsible and smarter about the situation, accepted a ride home, or stayed where they were after leaving their party. There’s no reasoning behind a 14 year old being out in the streets at that time. NONE — I don’t care what you attempt to conjure up about his whereabouts beforehand. Let this be a wake up call to parents and teenagers.

what sport in what school lasts so late at night that it would cause kids that age to be out on the street at 2 AM? apparently there was an entire group of irresponsible parents who let their young children roam the streets at 2 AM. when you have children you as parents are responsible for them 24 hours a day. i stand by my statement. if the parents had been responsible and taken their son home after the game he would be alive today.

If the person who hit him didnt stop, he was probably driving without a license, or drunk. He was in the wrong all the way, but at 14 Andrew didnt need to be out at 2:00 in the morning, but this is still not his mothers fault.

ok, ive read all of your blatherings. yes, god was a negligent parent. if jesus willingly let those people take him up on a hill and crucify him then that would be assisted suicide. dont tell me about situations as i was raised from age 9 by a single mother who worked nights and i didnt roam the streets at 2 am when i was 14. those who did were usually commiting crimes. when you become a parent you as a parent are responsible for the safety of your children. there are no excuses for you to neglect that duty. NO, satan didnt kill this child. roaming the streets at 2am got this child killed. my children didnt roam the streets at 2am at age 14 either. they are alive today by the way.

KIDS lack the mental or physical tools to deal with the segments of society who roam the streets at 2 am. as a parent if you let your children roam about in that environment there will be events like this. im truely sorry to see this or any kid have to die but it is the responsibility of the parents to safegaurd their kids. there was a failure here to do so.

Death comes in the morining, laying in bed, night, in car and so on. This society places so much on parents especially single ones but it will take a village but where is it? I tell you where it is too busy sweeping everyone else porch and they better pray that their tongues dnt condemn them. To this baby I am so sorry that your life was taken in such a short time but God makes no mistakes. It will be your legacy that means the most the way you touched hearts of others. My condolences to the Green Family. I love you all! This is a very unfortunate situation, and I truly don’t understand why people continue to discuss the shouldas, couldas and wouldas – IT’S IRRELEVANT!!! Also what you fail to realize is regardless of how things took place – GOD called his Angel home. When it is your time to go – you will go – we have no control over the how. Apparently, GOD’s reasoning for putting this blessing into everyone’s life – was fulfilled. We may not understand the “why” and guess what, it’s not for us to understand nor is it on us to pass judgement on anybody else. This baby is gone, and his parents/family/friends are grieving for him. We should be giving uplifting words to help them feel as though they can continue to move foward, after having to bury a child. No one wants to have to bury a child. Lets pray for the family and friends and keep them lifted. Now is not the time to try to tear what ever they may have left in them, down! I pray for you all to be given GOD’s strength to get you through this hard time, but what ever you do STOP listening to the nay-sayers, they talked about JESUS, so what makes anyone else an EXCEPTION???!!!

These boys were not out running the streets causing trouble! Most of them were over 18 or close to it! Why is everyone so quick to judge? The poor child was run over and killed in front of his friends…the person didn’t even stop!!! Stop blaming his parents…my goodness they just lost their child…I am sure they have enough thoughts running through their heads…Have you not ever done anything you weren’t suppose to or been some where your parents didn’t know…I didn’t know Andrew or his family, but I do know one of the kids with him that night…they aren’t bad kids!

RIP Andrew Green, I go to LHHS and I heard about this story saturday morning. Let me just say, no child or family should ever have to go through this. It was not Andrews fault, nor was it his parents, nor was it his cousins. It was the drivers fault 100%, He should have stopped, he should have seen him, he should have helped. I pray that the driver be brought to justice and pray for his family’s and friend’s recoveries. Amen
