ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – The Rangers may have ended the 2011 season on a sour note, but the club is looking to climb out of its recent World Series defeat woes and focus on the campaign ahead.
As the offseason looms, the General Manager of the club, Jon Daniels talked about the optimism that needs to breed in the coming days.
The club reached the World Series for the second year in a row and that is a big achievement. As the GM talked to the press on Monday, 31 October, there was a sense of reason in his voice.
“Today starts 2012, as far as we’re concerned, and we’re ready to go to work,” Daniels said. “As far as any sort of significant investment, whether it’s offense or pitching, our mindset is going to be to look internally first.”
“The reality is that over the next two, three and four years, we’ve got a lot of our players, our core guys, who have a chance to chance to reach free agency. We want to make sure we’re able to retain the core.”
