DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – An officer shot and wounded a suspect who attacked him with a knife while responding to an emergency call Saturday night, department spokesman Warren Mitchell said.

Details were scant, but Mitchell said the officer shot the suspect in the chest after the suspect lunged at him with the weapon at an apartment located at 12121 Audelia Road near IH-635. No police officers were hurt, Mitchell said, adding that the suspect was taken to Baylor Medical Center in an unknown condition.

Mitchell said the department would not be releasing any further information Sunday.
