Sandie’s Arts Blog: Celebrating The Holidays
Lots to celebrate at this time of year in North Texas! There is some of the best seasonal entertainment to be found anywhere!
The classic Charles Dicken’s holiday classic A CHRISTMAS CAROL returns to the historic Kalita Humphries Theater in Dallas through December 24th. Dallas Theater Center’s annual production brings an authentic re-telling of the well-loved story of Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future and poor miserly Ebenezer Scrooge. Real snow falls on stage so make sure you don’t miss this beloved North Texas tradition!
Fort Worth’s Bass Performance Hall brings the spirit of the season alive with Grammy nominated artist Jim Brickman. This holiday season the platinum-selling artist is creating a musical celebration for audiences seeking an escape from the hectic demands of the holiday season! Jim will appear at 7:30p on December 21st.
Also at Bass Hall – Texas Ballet Theater brings their magnificent production of the holiday classic THE NUTCRACKER to life complete with Sugar Plum Fairies and Clara and her Prince! Elaborate costumes and Ben Stevenson’s award winning choreography make this annual event a special treat for all ages. Performances continue though Christmas Eve.
Make time to visit the Dallas Museum of Science and Nature in Fair Park to see their great new exhibit – not holiday themed but a great way to spend some family time during the school break! Planet Shark: Predator or Prey takes you through the murky myths and fascinating facts, which have surrounded sharks for centuries. You’ll see explanations and examinations of almost every aspect of the shark – from evolution and biology to popular culture. You’ll gain a whole new level of respect for the ocean’s oldest and deadliest predator! The exhibit continues through September 16th.
See you next week…center stage.
