WASHINGTON (AP) – A new play about the memorable former Texas Gov. Ann Richards is opening at the Kennedy Center in Washington.

“Ann” is written and performed by actress Holland Taylor who spent three years developing the project to create a portrait of Richards. Taylor used Richards’ personal and public papers at the University of Texas and interviewed those who knew the former governor to develop her character for the stage.

The play runs through Jan. 15 at the Kennedy Center’s Eisenhower Theater.

  1. Ted Kennedy says:

Does the play involve a copious amount of dirty politics and, er, ah, hard drinking?

No, that would be a play about Rick Perry, George Bush, and John Tower. But that can’t be right they’re C-H-R-I-S-T-I-A-N-S!!!!

      1. Atheist Lawyer says:

What the hell does religion have to do with any of this story, MORON? You rabid atheists who have a chip on your shoulder and deny “God” because your life blows, rather than because of logical reasons, allow people to perceive us all as the “angry-at-God” types, rather than the level-headed and logical types. Chill.
