Guard At Fort Worth Medical Unit Accused Of Abuse
FORT WORTH (AP) – A guard at a federal medical prison in North Texas has been accused of sexual abuse of an inmate.
A grand jury this week indicted Kraig D. Lavan of Granbury on one count of engaging in a sexual act with an inmate at the Federal Medical Center Carswell.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Thursday that the woman was in “official detention.” The indictment says the abuse allegedly happened around Nov. 2.
A Carswell spokesman says Lavan worked at the unit from April 2010 until last month, when he resigned.
The center, at Naval Air Station Fort Worth, provides specialized services to female inmates with medical and psychiatric illnesses.
No attorney was listed for Lavan in federal records.
