PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - The discovery of a body behind a Plano church had police searching a wooded area near Shiloh Road Monday evening.
Around 3:00 p.m. Monday a group of kids walking toward the Bob Woodruff Trail discovered the body of an adult woman lying in a creek near the trail.
Officer Andre Smith with the Plano Police Department says when the kids found the woman’s body they went home and told their parents – who called police.
The body was discovered near Plano Bible Church. It is believed to be the body of 49-year-old Denise Stoddard, who disappeared Friday.
Stoddard was last seen Friday night at her home a half-mile away.
Plano police and fire officials say they are unaware of how Stoddard died, but do not believe her death was suspicious. “There was no sign of foul play. Nothing distinctive of the body that would indicate whether this was a homicide, whether this was a suicide or whether this was just an accident,” said Smith.
Stoddard’s body has been sent to the Collin County Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
The case is under investigation.
