DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A Dallas woman is dead after being hit by a DART train Tuesday evening.

The woman was hit by a Green Line train shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday near Second Avenue and Scyene Road near Fair Park.

DART spokesman Mark Ball says the woman was walking across the tracks in a prohibited area.

There is no DART Rail station in the direct area.

Green Line customers at the nearby Hatcher and MLK stations are being transferred to buses.

Ball says DART police are continuing their investigation.
