DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas Love Field is getting a facelift. The facility is under renovation – part of the project is already completed – and travelers will soon be experiencing a more modern and efficient airport.
More of the upcoming changes are being shown off on Thursday.
The goal of the $519 million renovation project is to make the airport more convenient for travelers. The terminal will actually decrease in size by about 25 percent, because a lot of the wasted space will be gone. The three original concourses are set to be consolidated into one, for all airlines.
The ticketing and baggage claim areas, as well as the lobby, will also be redesigned. The number of concessions will more than double. And there will be a new flow for traffic and ground transportation outside the airport walls.
The construction was scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2014, but it could actually be finished before that time frame.
