NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM)- More than 100 people working for United Parcel Service (UPS) in Carrollton will soon be losing their jobs.
The layoffs are centered at the package delivery company’s accounting service center, on Valwood Parkway.
UPS is ‘consolidating’ their services and has decided to close the Carrollton center.
Approximately 135 positions will be eliminated between April 6, 2012 and February 13, 2013.
UPS sent a layoff warning notice to the Texas Workforce Commission detailing the positions to be eliminated and the two-week date range when termination would occur.
In the memo, the company said laid off employees will be offered a severance benefit.
Despite JPMorgan Chase recently downgrading UPS shares, company stock has moved up from trading in the high-60s late last year to more than $74 a share this afternoon.
UPS is based in Atlanta, Georgia.
