DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – An 18-wheeler lost control and slammed into the rear of a DART bus Wednesday afternoon, sending 11 people to area hospitals with minor injuries.

The collision happened just after 4 p.m. in the 7500 block of Great Trinity Forest Way, a section of Loop 12 situated between Interstate 45 and U.S. 175. The bus was stopped at a light near U.S. 175 and Buckner Blvd. when the 18-wheeler barreled into it.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit spokeswoman Morgan Lyons said six ambulances were called to take 10 passengers and the bus driver to Baylor Medical Center.

An EMS worker at the scene said those hurt in the accident complained of neck and back pains and that there were no reports of severe trauma.

The bus remains at the scene of the accident Wednesday evening.
