First Lady Promoting Fitness In North Texas

DALLAS (AP) – First lady Michelle Obama spends the next two days in North Texas as she makes a three-day national tour to promote childhood fitness and the battle against childhood obesity.

Obama’s first North Texas stop will be at Thursday’s dinner hour in Fort Worth, where she’ll preside over a roundtable dinner discussion at a Fort Worth restaurant with parents who are changing habits in their homes and communities.

On Friday, she’ll join chef contestants from past seasons of the Bravo series “Top Chef” and members of the Dallas Cowboys to promote healthier food choices for students in the nation’s schools. The chefs will compete in a health cooking contest with students at the Kleberg Rylie Recreation Center in southeastern Dallas.

Funny, she gives a talk about childhood obesity at Olive Garden….guess she is not willing to lead by example!

If you think that Mrs. Obama and/or her children or obese then you have a skewed perspective on what obesity is. Mrs. Obam and her children look to be in good shape and very healthy.

I just find it funny that she promotes healthy eating but one of her favorite places to eat is Shake Shack. Kind of hypocritical.

Olive Garden is promoting their new menu that includes healthy meals. I think what Mrs. Obama is doing is going to make some huge changes for the health of the future adults of our country. Mothers and fathers influence their children’s future health by what they feed their children. I have a floor filled with patients who have difficulty making changes in their diets because of how they were taught to eat as children.

I’d like to see how much sodium those new “healthy meals” will be packing.

      1. NiteNurse says:

The Olive Garden is providing the information on their menu about sodium. I believe their new menus are available online.

eating and being healthy is up to the individual…comparative tests have been done on salads and hamburgers from different restaurants and the fat and calorie would be surprised..that lunch salad with all the goodies has more fat and calories( unless you eat just the lettuce), than a big mac..mrs obama and her children have a chef to cook for them at the whitehouse who assures they stay healthy..if she wants to occasionally go to the shake shack, who cares! it is not as if she eats 3 meals a day there every day, and as far as speaking at olive garden,.they have a menu from which you can pick items with no sauces or lesser calories..if she were miss america and this was jher platform, no one would say a word..its only because she is first lady…

I’m sick and tired of her trying to force me to eat what SHE wants me to eat….she’s just like her socialist husband.

    1. NiteNurse says:

Did you get this upset when Mrs. Bush asked you to start reading to your kids? Or when Mrs. Reagan asked kids to not use drugs. So what if Mrs. Obama is asking American parents and kids to eat more vegetables and get off the sofa and walk around the block for an hour. Maybe if everyone followed her advice we will stop the diabetes epidemic.

      1. sickoftheobama's says:

FYI – I don’t have any children to READ to and I’m not a diabetic either.

    2. altha says:

Sickof the obama’s, Know one is forching you to eat anything you don’t want to eat i say stop being stupid.

      1. sickoftheobama's says:

Yeah – I had better eat what I want NOW cause pretty soon, Hussein and Angry Black Woman will be telling me what I can and can’t eat. YOU’RE the one that’s stupid if you believe their bologny.

      2. Kramer says:

Ol’ Black Altha: What’s forching? Is that like felching? I told you not to be stupid, you moron. Now go back to your crack and pork chitterlings.
