West Has Surgery On Fractured Finger
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Mavericks Head Coach Rick Carlisle says Delonte West will be out “a few weeks” after the Mavericks guard had successful surgery Friday to stabilize the fracture in his right ring finger.
According to the team, once the finger is healed, West will need a subsequent procedure to remove the stabilizing pins before he returns to basketball activities.
West has averaged 8.3 points in 29 games (20 starts) in his first season in Dallas.
The Mavericks were also missing guards Jason Terry (quad) and Rodrique Beaubois (father’s death) when they played Philadelphia on Friday night. Jason Kidd, Vince Carter, and Dominique Jones were the only active guards on the roster.
Terry is expected back when the Mavs play Jeremy Lin and the Knicks in New York on Sunday afternoon.
