WEATHERFORD (AP/CBSDFW) — The North Texas man accused of abducting his former neighbor and raping her on a deer-skinning device has been found guilty of his crimes.
Jeffrey Allan Maxwell was found guilty Tuesday afternoon of aggravated kidnapping and two counts aggravated sexual assault.
During closing statements Tuesday in Parker County, prosecutors said Maxwell’s actions were unspeakable. They say DNA evidence supports the woman’s testimony about how Maxwell sexually assaulted her at his Corsicana home. Prosecutors say Maxwell, in recorded interviews with authorities, also gave details about the assaults and kidnapping 12 days earlier.
Defense attorneys urged jurors to disregard whips, blood-stained sheets and other evidence. They say authorities took pictures of the items in Maxwell’s home before obtaining a search warrant.
Maxwell faces up to life in prison. Sentencing begins Wednesday.
