WEATHERFORD (CBSDFW.COM) – Weatherford police believe they have arrested the man who, over the past few days, exposed himself to young girls as they walked home from school.

On Monday, police received a tip they should look at 23-year-old Matthew Nance as a suspect. Through investigative work and inquiries with other North Texas police agencies a vehicle description of Nance’s car was obtained and officers set up surveillance.

Officers observed Nance, who fit the description of the indecency suspect, traveling in the same areas where the previous incidents had occurred.

After several reports of the vehicle being near schools and in certain neighborhoods, Nance was pulled over on a traffic stop.

Wendy Field, a sergeant with the Weatherford Police Department, said things really feel into place when police began questioning Nance.

“Subsequently the driver confessed to our detectives that he had exposed himself on at least three separate occasions involving young females walking home from school,” she explained.

As it stands, Nance is facing three felony charges in Weatherford, but there could be additional charges.

“We also think that he’s probably involved in a couple of other incidences here in town as well as maybe additional incidents outside of Weatherford,” Field said.

Nance, a resident of Lipan, was formally charged with Indecency with a Child/Exposure.

The arrest brings some relief to worried parents.

Sergeant Field said, “I’m an officer so it makes me feel relieved of that [his arrest] and I also have a daughter, a pre-teen daughter, so on a number of different levels we definitely are feeling some relief over here.”

Nance is held in the Parker County Jail on $15,000 bond.
