GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW.COM) – A 59-year-old man driving a 2004 Chevrolet sedan was killed Friday after witnesses say he ran a stop sign, causing a pickup truck to slam into the driver’s side door.
Grand Prairie Police spokesman Eric Hansen said the sedan was traveling westbound on Dickey Rd. and crossing the northbound lanes of Highway 161 at 11:30 a.m. when the collision happened.
Witnesses told police that the Chevrolet sedan ran a stop sign and “entered the path of the pick-up” truck. The driver of the truck, a 75-year-old Midlothian man, was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The 59-year-old died at the scene, Hansen said.
Grand Prairie Police are investigating the accident. This is the fourth fatal traffic collision in the city this year. Neither victim has been identified.
