Missing Laredo Teen Found Safe In Irving

GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW.COM) – A 14-year-old Laredo girl vacationing in North Texas was found safe late Sunday in Irving, police said.

The girl disappeared Friday night outside of a family friend’s house in Grand Prairie where they were staying.

Family members said Sunday that the teen had befriended a Honduran man living in Irving earlier in the week. The missing girl’s sister said at one point, the man said he wanted to marry the 14-year old. They did not know how old the man is.

The missing teenager was found in Irving, but police did not say on Sunday if she was found with the Honduran man.

“This is an on-going investigation, so I am limited on what I can disseminate,” Grand Prairie Police Det. Lyle Gensler said Sunday night.  “The good news is she was located and appears to be in good health.”

The located teen was carrying her mother’s cell phone when she disappeared.

Her mother said detectives told her the phone was detected in The Valley on the border with Mexico but had not been used to transmit text messages or phone calls.

NOW does she qualify for amber alert since she may be traveling to the border with this lunatic?

    • 2sister

She’s not traveling with him. She has been found safe in Irving.

This sounds like a repeat of another story from a few months back. How can parents be so ignorant of what their kids are up to?

    • re Bill

Exactly. What ever happened to that story of the teen in Frisco. It’s like everything gets plastered all over the news, and when they are found safe…it’s like shhhh, it never happened.
