HURST (CBSDFW.COM) - Strong winds ripped a huge metal canopy off of a strip center in Hurst.
The damage was caused at a shopping center along Grapevine Highway, with the most damage at Bacon’s Restaurant.
Bacon’s owner Adam Daily told NewsRadio 1080 KRLD that his first concern was for diners, then his building.
“I’m glad no one was hurt,” he said. “It’s gonna be a couple days before we can get back open again, but we’ll get it cleaned up and we’ll get everything put back together and business as normal.”
Lisa Deeds was having lunch inside the restaurant when the winds picked up.
“We were sitting in the front window,” she recalled. “There was a gust of wind and kind of a loud boom and all of a sudden the front of the building, the awning, just came down.”
The fallen canopy injured no one, but several cars parked out front were badly damaged.
