DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Ryan Lusk was ending a night of celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, along Dallas’ Greenville Avenue.  “He was happy. He had plans for his future,” his mother said.

Everything changed early Sunday morning.  While Lusk was about to drive off from the 5600 block of Ellsworth, a suspected robber demanded money.

Lusk would be the second victim of two criminals that night. A 24-year old woman was being held at gunpoint by the same suspects, while they confronted him.  The woman was eventually set free.

Lusk was shot, and critically wounded.  “My son had $40 in his pocket”, Paula Montoya said.  “These guys need to be taken off the street.”

Dallas police say the crime spree began at an apartment complex in Northeast Dallas.  The female victim was grabbed outside her apartment, forced to go to area ATM’s to access money.  When no cash could be withdrawn, two kidnappers drove the woman to the lower Greenville area.  That’s when Lusk was approached.  “She (kidnap victim) heard the gunshot. The shot she heard actually hit somebody. That was my 23 year old son,” Montoya said.

Detectives said the only description of the suspects is limited.  They’re looking for two African American males. One had light skin complexion, with gold front teeth.

The gunshot to Ryan Lusk severed his spinal cord.  His mother said he may never walk again.  She is working on a reward for information.  “Anything we can offer to get someone to come forward, because this guy needs to be stopped.”
