NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Some of the healthiest people in the state live right here in North Texas.
According to the annual County Health Rankings, taking into account a number of factors including how healthy people are and how long they live, Collin County is the healthiest county in the state.
To come up with the rankings various heath statistics including, tobacco use; obesity rates; access to healthcare and healthy foods; education; employment; family relationships; and air quality, were taken into consideration.
Five North Texas counties made the top 20 for healthiest in the state. Rockwall and Denton counties came in at numbers three and four, respectively. Erath County was ranked 11th healthiest and Ellis County was number 13.
As for the two largest North Texas counties – of 221 ranked counties, Tarrant County came in at 24 and Dallas County was 51st.
The annual County Health Rankings are put together by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF).
