FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Local residents are not the only people in North Texas who are still coping with the aftermath of Tuesday afternoon’s powerful storms. Frustrated travelers at DFW International Airport continue to face delays and cancellations due to planes that were damaged by hail when the dangerous weather rolled through.

Airport officials said that at least 323 flights in and out of DFW will be canceled on Thursday, as 63 planes are currently out of service. Over 100 planes from various airlines were damaged by golf ball sized hail at the airport on Tuesday.

To make matters worse, DFW International Airport acts as a major hub for air travel. So, delays and cancellations here often have a ripple effect across the nation and around the world, leading to backed-up airlines at airports in other states and countries.

David and Pat Rosengrants from Sachse were among the travelers who faced delays on Thursday morning, but they were not unhappy. While it will take a little longer than expected for them to reach Canada, they will still get to see their son and grandson in time for Easter on Sunday. “The fact of the matter is, we’ll still get to Calgary,” said Pat Rosengrants. “So, we weren’t affected, I’m sure, like many people. We saw the people across the Metroplex that really had a problem.”

people dont realize what a massive job it is to inspect all of the aircraft that were at dfw and get them back into service, let alone all of the crews that were delayed or diverted to somewhere else..good to hear a few are understanding and not complaining..
