GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW.COM) – Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie is kicking off its 16th Spring Thoroughbred Season on Thursday evening with a weekend full of excitement and festivities. Opening ceremonies start at 5:45 p.m. with the first horse race of the year beginning about an hour later.
CBS 11 News was at Lone Star Park early on Opening Day to preview the weekend’s events.
In addition to the series of weekend horse races, Lone Star Park is also holding outdoor concerts at the track — Randy Rogers Band on Friday night and Gary Allan on Saturday night. Plus, visitors on Sunday will be treated to camel and ostrich races. Plenty of other activities and entertainers will be on hand throughout the weekend.
