IRVING (AP) – Jerry Jones says the Dallas Cowboys have been able to do everything they wanted to do this offseason despite the NFL reducing their salary cap.

The NFL took away $10 million in salary cap space from the Cowboys and $36 million from Washington.

The penalties are for overloading contracts in the 2010 uncapped season despite league warnings. Dallas is taking a $5 million cut this year and the rest next year.

The Cowboys owner is hopeful that a mediator will see the teams’ side during arbitration in two weeks.

Jones said Wednesday he couldn’t talk about issues involved in that hearing.

Jones says the Cowboys are “halfway through the problem” and have a full year to plan for next year’s cut if it isn’t overturned.
