TEXARKANA (AP) – Arkansas State Police and the Hempstead County Sheriff’s office are working with Texas law enforcement officers to investigate the death of a man found in a burned vehicle near the Arkansas-Texas state line.
The car, registered to a Saratoga, Ark., resident, was discovered Saturday by Bowie County, Texas, sheriff’s deputies who responded to a report of a burning vehicle.
Hempstead County deputies went to the home listed on the vehicle’s registration and found evidence of a disturbance inside.
Bowie County Sheriff James Prince told the Texarkana Gazette (http://bit.ly/Im75VU) that after Hempstead County officials notified them about what they found, officers returned to the scene and made the grisly discovery.
Prince says investigators believe the death is a homicide.
The identity and manner of death of the victim hasn’t been determined.
