PARKER COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) – A 27-year old Weatherford mother is in jail, charged with child endangerment.
According to deputies, Jennifer Marie Chron left her small children alone, in squalid conditions, with at least one bottle of open prescription medication out in the open.
Authorities received a call from a man who said Chron was at his home “out of it” and had left her two daughters, ages 2 and 5 alone at her residence.
Deputies went to the house in the 1700 block of Old Mineral Wells Highway and found Chron back at the home disoriented and confused about why authorities were there.
Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler told CBSDFW.COM, “She wasn’t much use in attending to the children.”
According to officials, Chron was unsteady and kept falling down.
Going through the house deputies saw an open bottle of prescription medication that was later discovered to have 22 pills missing. Believing the children might have ingested drugs the kids were taken by ambulance to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth to be treated for suspected overdose.
The children are currently in good condition and in the custody of Child Protective Services.
Chron is charged with two counts of Abandoning/Endangering Child and remains in the Parker County Jail on a $70,000 bond.
