Aggies Athletic Director Stepping Down

COLLEGE STATION (CBSDFW.COM) – There are more changes coming for Texas A & M as they transition to the SEC.

Monday night, KBTX-TV in Bryan/College Station reported Aggie athletic director Bill Byrne will be stepping down Tuesday.

Byrne, who has been athletic director at the Central Texas school since December 2002, will temporarily become a special assistant to university president R. Bowen Loftin to help with the Aggies transition to the Southeastern Conference.

The Aggies will officially move to the SEC on July 1.  Byrne will remain with the school until September 1.  His contract was set to expire in August of 2013.

KBTX is reporting the university will hold a press conference Tuesday afternoon to announce Byrne’s departure.
