City Of Kemp Closes Police Department

KEMP (CBSDFW.COM) – The City of Kemp, in Kaufman County, shut down its police department this at 7:00 this morning.

City Administrator Charles Fenner said in an email the move was “because of budget matters.”

Kaufman County Sheriff David Byrnes says his office will continue to provide law enforcement services to the city.

The U.S. Census says Kemp’s population was 1,154 in 2010.
