FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – Most people see dogs as pets or family members. But a group of working dogs will be practicing their search, rescue and attack techniques at the May-Hem K-9 Courage & Control Competition in Fort Worth on Thursday night. The event is being held at Billy Bob’s Texas in the Fort Worth Stockyards, and it’s open to the public. It starts at 6:00 p.m. and tickets are $10, with proceeds going to Search One Rescue Team.
CBS 11 News got to preview the competition early Thursday morning. And while the dogs may seem friendly — they’re very social animals — these four-legged friends are tough. Reporter Melissa Newton found that out first-hand, as she put on the specialized safety jacket and was nearly brought down by a 50-pound attack dog.
