Veteran’s Memorial Day Spent Saying Thanks

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – Frank Duffy walked around Mount Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth on Memorial Day looking at headstones.

He wasn’t searching for family. “Just reflecting on the sacrifice that others have made,” said Duffy, who lives in Fort Worth.

He was searching for war heroes.  “When I see a stone a lot of times I don’t look at it as names or dates they are lives,” explained the retired Air Force Staff Sergeant. “There is a story and everyone has a story and unfortunately we will never hear it.”

Duffy’s last mission was in Operation Dessert Storm.  The 53-year-old said his final assignment was both challenging and rewarding.  He had to notify families of fallen service members.  He also helped familes cope through their loss.

Duffy makes it a point every Memorial Day to pay his respects, “I will never forget the sacrifices made for our freedom.”
