Suspect Killed In Gunfight With Irving Police
IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) – Irving Police shot and killed a suspect who fired at them while they cordoned off a crime scene Sunday morning, department spokesman John Argumaniz said.
Police responded to a shooting call in the 3700 block of Block Drive at about 1:04 a.m. When they arrived, Argumaniz said they found a man with a gunshot wound.
Witnesses told investigators the suspect was still in the area. As police set up a perimeter to find him, the suspect emerged and traded fire with the officers.
Argumaniz said police took cover and awaited a tactical team for backup in case there were other suspects. Officers soon found the suspect dead from gunshot wounds, Argumaniz said.
The man who was found shot at the scene was taken to Parkland Hospital and is stable. The victim nor the suspect who fired at officers have been identified.
