FORT WORTH (AP) - A 45-year-old ex-business teacher and cheerleading coach in North Texas has been sentenced to probation for having sex with a male student.

Tiffanie Kay Bedinger of Watauga taught at Richland High School but resigned last year after being confronted with the allegations. Bedinger last week pleaded guilty to having improper relations with a student was sentenced to five years of probation.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Tuesday that the boy graduated last year and was Bedinger’s student while a junior and a senior. Investigators say the boy was 17 at the time of the sexual relations with the educator.

Bedinger taught in the Birdville school district from August 2006 until her resignation in April 2011.

An affidavit indicates the boy admitted the relationship to his father.
