LEWISVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) - Two teenagers are in custody after a police standoff in Lewisville. The incident started just after 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, when an ice cream vendor called 911 to report a robbery in the 600 block of Milton Street. The vendor followed both suspects to a home in the 400 block of Edwards Street, where police were able to quickly establish a perimeter.
According to Lt. Mike Moore with the Lewisville Police Department, the victim said that one of the black male suspects was armed with a gun. The vendor was not injured during the robbery incident, though he was shoved by one of the suspects.
The names of the 17-year-old and 18-year-old suspects have not been released.
The suspects had fled to a home belonging to either a friend or family member. That homeowner promptly evacuated the house when police arrived on the scene. The suspects yelled at police throughout the standoff, and frequently taunted authorities by eating and sweeping on the outside porch.
The two suspects eventually surrendered after police threw a food-based tear gas into the home. Authorities never needed to enter the house, and no injuries were sustained by suspects of officers throughout the standoff.
