DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM/AP) – A North Texas woman has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for texting images of child pornography.
Amber Schmidt of Garland was sentenced this week by U.S. District Judge Barbara M. G. Lynn following her guilty plea to one count of transporting and shipping child pornography. The 24-year-old Schmidt also received a 10-year term of supervised release.
One of those who received the messages from Schmidt was Gary Lee Jackson, also of Garland. He was sentenced last month to 30 years in federal prison as a result of his guilty plea to one count of receiving child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography.
The case started when an individual contacted police last August about images on a cell phone that Jackson left in the person’s car.
