DALLAS (AP) – New Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby believes the best days are ahead for the conference.
Bowlsby spoke Monday to open the Big 12 football media days. He says he was admittedly skeptical when he was first approached about leading the league that seemed on the brink of collapse each of the past two summers.
After a month on the job, Bowlsby says there is a strength and stability with the current 10 members, including newcomers TCU and West Virginia after the departures of Texas A&M and Missouri for the SEC.
Expansion seems unlikely for now. Bowlsby says if the Big 12 voted today, the league wouldn’t take any new members.
