FORT WORTH (CBSDFW) – A man walking along East Lancaster Avenue underneath the I-30 and I-35W interchange in Fort Worth was hit by an off-duty school bus Wednesday morning.
The bus was taking part in a test run for the upcoming school year when it hit the man walking across the road around 10:00 a.m.
The victim, identified only as a 64-year-old man, was taken to JPS hospital with critical head injuries. Fort Worth police say it is unlikely the man will survive.
Police also say the driver will not be cited or charged in the accident.
A cluster of homeless shelters are housed in the area along East Lancaster. The city recently installed Yield to Pedestrian signs near the shelters, and have tried to discourage people from walking in the road under the interstate.
