Government Audit Forces Dallas Sushi Restaurant To Close
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The trendy “Sushi Zushi” is one of the more popular restaurants in the Oak Lawn neighborhood of Dallas.
It may explain why many of its customers who showed up Friday for dinner were sadly disappointed to see that it was closed.
All eight Sushi Zushi restaurants in Texas have been temporarily closed, including one in Dallas, another in Southlake, two in Austin and four in San Antonio.
The high-end restaurant chain, based in San Antonio, says it was forced to close the restaurants when several key employees failed to show up for work.
The chain is undergoing an I-9 Audit, which is conducted to verify that all employees are authorized to work in the United States.
The restaurant chain issued a statement claiming there was no raid by the government and that no employees have been detained.
A spokesperson for Sushi Zushi says all eight restaurants will attempt to reopen as soon as possible.
